Brenda Scavo

Brenda’s sarcoma journey was unfortunately way too short. By the time her UPS diagnosis was made in December 2020, (delayed due to covid restrictions) it was already locally advanced as a stage 3 tumor. Radiation and surgery followed in the first half of 2021. Surgery was successful, but discovered lung metastasis on a follow up in July. Several rounds of chemotherapy ensued. Follow up scans later that year indicated lung tumors had grown, and there was a local recurrence at initial tumor site. Metastasis to back was discovered in April 2022 requiring a spinal fusion, and last attempts at chemo resulted in kidney failure. She was in hospice for approximately 3 months before passing away on Sept. 15.

Brenda was the County Treasurer in York county, Nebraska, and very active with county government both here and across the state. She especially loved Christmas and our annual 4th of July parties, where she got to showcase her love of cooking. Baking at Christmas time was an annual tradition. Brenda was happiest when surrounded by family at gatherings in and around her kitchen. She had a passion for scrapbooking, and there are many fond memories of vacations to Colorado, Arizona, Maine, and all points in between.

Family was everything, especially her grandchildren who were the apples of her eye! We all have her memory and are lucky to have had her in our lives.
