Funding Opportunities

A broad list of sarcoma research funding opportunities to make it easier for researchers to find opportunities that advance their work.

Since inception, SFA has been a leader in funding and advancing sarcoma research. Not only does the organization invest a significant amount of our resources funding research, but a pillar of our research priorities is building a pipeline of investigators to advance science for people diagnosed and living with sarcoma.

To that end, below is a collection of wide-ranging sarcoma research funding opportunities. The list includes SFA opportunities but also funding opportunities across the sarcoma spectrum.

AACR-QuadW Foundation Sarcoma Research Fellowship in Memory of Willie Tichenor

The AACR-QuadW Foundation Sarcoma Research Fellowship in Memory of Willie Tichenor provides a one-year grant of $60,000 to support the salary and benefits of the fellow while working on a mentored sarcoma research project. Funds may also be designated for nonpersonnel expenses, such as research/laboratory supplies, equipment, publication charges for manuscripts that pertain directly to the funded project, and other research expenses. However, grant funds cannot be used to compensate for clinical practice with patients or for indirect costs. The application deadline is January 9, 2025 (1:00 p.m. EST).

SFA Research Grants

The Sarcoma Foundation of America is pleased to announce a Request for Proposals (RFP) for pre-clinical, translational, and clinical research on the etiology, molecular biology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of human sarcomas. This RFP is in support of our overall mission to fund research and increase awareness and advocacy for sarcoma patients and their families. The goal of the SFA grant program is to encourage research that results in improved therapeutic options for sarcoma patients. The SFA encourages applications in ALL areas of sarcoma research.

The Last Mile Sarcoma Research Award

The Sarcoma Foundation of America (SFA) is pleased to announce it is accepting applications for its Last Mile Research Grant. In its second year, the research funding opportunity provides one-year grants of $150,000, to support translational science research on the etiology, molecular biology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of human sarcomas. Completed applications must be submitted by February 3, 2025, at 5:00 pm EDT.

In support of our overall mission to fund research and increase awareness and advocacy for sarcoma patients and their families, the goal of the SFA grant program is to encourage research that results in improved therapeutic options for sarcoma patients.

Summers Way/Friends of TJ Young Investigator Grant

Summer’s Way Foundation is currently accepting proposals for the Summers Way/Friends of TJ Young Investigator Grant to support scientists in the early stages of their careers, such as postdoctoral or clinical fellows. Applicants must not have achieved an appointment higher than than instructor and the grant program must have a focus on pediatric sarcoma. The Osteosarcoma Institute is currently accepting letters of intent for Clinical Trials, Correlative Science, Preclinical/Translational, and High-Risk/High-Impact grant programs in osteosarcoma. MIB Agents Osteosarcoma Alliance is accepting applications for their OutSmarting Osteosarcoma 2025 grant cycle. Letters of intent for the OutSmarting Osteosarcoma Hero Award ($100,000/one year) and the OutSmarting Osteosarcoma Young Investigator Award ($50,000/one year) are due by October 25, 2024 (11:59pm ET).
