Briana Jean Carruth

Briana Jean Carruth was born October 14, 1999, in Greenwood, SC to Shane and Brandi. From the beginning she was an independent, driven, and determined child. She took on the role of Big Sister to her brother, Dawson in 2003, it was a role she was Proud of as she loved and adored her brother! She always set goals for herself and made sure she would accomplish those goals, three of the goals she was most proud of were graduating high school, getting her Cosmetology license, and graduating college with an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice.

In February of 2021, at the age of 21, Briana was diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma and had to make the decision to have a right below the knee amputation to remove the cancer from her foot. On March 9, 2021, she had the amputation and was deemed cancer free, until she went in for a post-op scan in May 2021 and found out the cancer had metastasized to her lungs, so in June she would begin several weeks of chemo. On February 22, 2022, she went in for a follow-up visit and scan, the scans came back remarkable, and no spots were showing in the lungs, that Great news would be short lived because in April 2022 the cancer had yet again returned, so Briana continued on with chemo, radiation, and inhibitors to treat the cancer. She was also hospitalized multiple times during her fight with this horrible disease, but Briana remained positive, kept a smile on her face, and was always determined she was going to beat it.

On September 5, 2023, Briana gained her Angel wings, but not before putting up a fight, she wanted to live because she still had so many goals in life she wanted to achieve. Briana loved her Family and Friends fiercely, she had a heart of gold, she had a smile that lit up any room, and the most contagious laughter, but she also had spunk and determination to achieve anything she set her mind to.

Briana fought her battle with bravery, courage, strength, positivity, was an inspiration to others and had a never give up attitude. She had a beautiful spirit and will “Always ” be loved and missed!
