San Francisco Marathon Fundraiser

On October 21, 2007, Karen Donovan, Linda Felker, Janet Covey, and Joan McNally will be participating in the San Francisco Nike Women's Marathon as a fundraiser for the Sarcoma Foundation.

For those of you unfamiliar with sarcoma, it is a type of cancer that develops in bones or soft tissues. Because sarcoma is such a rare form of cancer, it is our sincere desire to rally supporters in the effort to build awareness of the need for research and help find a cure for this disease so that we can aid others in fighting it. Please help us become a success in the battle against sarcoma.

All donations raised will go directly to the Sarcoma Foundation of America to fund the research of new treatment therapies and issue grants to young doctors to help them get started in the field of sarcoma.  This form of cancer is sometimes curable by surgery (about 20% of the time), or by surgery with chemotherapy and/or radiation (another 30%), but Sarcoma can be resistant to all of these approaches.  Thus, there is an extreme need for new therapeutic approaches, and your donation provides very important benefits.
